Louise is an emerging artist originally from Adelaide, Australia. She is currently based in the Bay Area, California where she paints and draws with the aim to capture the beauty of nature and moments of quiet reflection. Her subjects range from hand-picked flowers and fruits, to the scattering of personal objects one might find in any home. Her portraits aim to capture a sense of the person within. Louise’s drawings and paintings are all completed from life allowing her to observe, understand and interpret nature and light in all its complexity.
Louise’s artistic journey began in earnest in 2015 when she left her 10-year career as a groundwater scientist to pursue her ever-present passion for drawing and painting. She attended numerous workshops in Australia, before undertaking full-time artistic training at the Grand Central Atelier in New York in 2016 and 2017 under the direction of Jacob Collins, Edward Minoff, Justin Wood, Devin Cecil Wishing, Patrick Byrnes, Gregory Mortenson, Katie Whipple, Kathryn Engberg and Anthony Baus.
Louise has been a finalist in the Calleen Art Award, Doug Moran Portrait Prize, the Eutick Memorial Still Life Award, the Lethbridge 10000 Painting Prize, and the Emma Hack Art Prize.
